Discover Magnetic Marketing With Storytelling Content

The art of storytelling in your marketing is now being realized by the masses however it has always been one of the most effective ways of selling or training. Many years ago one of my highest earning affiliate programs was a result of an email sent out in my autoresponder about webhosting.

In that email I told a true story about the dangers of using free hosting. All I did was explain something that actually happened to me. To cut a long story short it was basically how I had created a sales page on a free host and than paid quite a deal of money with various solo ad providers to get some sales.

I was brand new at marketing and nervous as can be. The date for the solo ads came around and I held my breathe hoping for sales. Than it happened… My site went down for an entire 3 days. I just threw away about $280 dollars sending people to nothing.

I was shattered at the time and the very next week paid the money for a professional webhosting provider. However by sharing that experience with my list and sharing with them which hosting provider I was now using resulted in me earning a lot in affiliate income.

Here’s the thing…

I didn’t even know I was using storytelling as a marketing tool. I was just relaying a genuine experience however the result was very a high conversion rate for that affiliate product all because of the story. So in my marketing career I have been using stories to sell almost by accident. So you can see how effective it is and from now on both you and I should try to be more mindful of using stories more purposefully in the future…

Visual story telling for marketing

Best Quote: Visual storytelling’s power comes from the ability to convey a lot of information at a glance. I would argue that a tactile pop-up book is able to convey even more information. There’s a sense of scale and wonder you get with 3D representations that two dimensions can never quite cover. This pop-up book, for example, contains 16 pop-ups that tell the story of how the large Hadron Collider experiment works.

Best Quote: Humans are naturally drawn to stories because they elicit emotion – and emotion is what sells. Studies show positive emotions toward a brand have far greater influence on consumer loyalty than trust and other judgments based on attributes.

Guinness
Apple
Google
John Deere
Nike
Lego
Airbnb

In summary: Storytelling is great copywriting in all aspects of your business from salesletters, email follow up and marketing campaigns. An important aspect is you don’t have to be sleazy about it or make things up. Tell a true story, speak of your experience or of someone you know. The sincerity of your story will resonate with your audience and not just for your sales material… Using stories will help in any teaching or training you provide as well.
